The Many Advantages of Laser Liposuction
There are many advantages that laser liposuction offers over traditional methods of liposuction surgery. Since it uses a very different set of equipment and techniques to remove fat from the body it is almost a different procedure. Sure, laser liposuction shares the concept of removing fat through a suction tube but the degree of severity of the common risks is greatly reduced and recovery is much more convenient for the patient.
The laser technique uses a small laser guided through an optic fiber into the area where the unwanted fat cells are residing. The heat generated from the laser causes the fat to literally melt making it easier to remove through the tiny suction tube attached to the optic fiber. There is one particularly unique side effect of using the laser technique and that is the heat of the laser causing the collagen under the skin to contract. As a result of laser liposuction many patients are experiencing smoother and tighter skin around the treatment area.
Since this technique is much more precise in targeting unwanted fat cells it allows the surrounding tissue of the treatment area to remain relatively untouched. This minimizes the myriad of risks that are associated with damaging the surrounding tissue such as excessive bleeding from damaged blood vessels. Since the tools employed during laser liposuction is smaller than traditional lyposuction the incision is also smaller. This makes the entire incision area less prone to complications like infections.
Another benefit to being a more gentle procedure is after the surgery. During the healing and recovery period, a typical liposuction patient can expect to take a much as two weeks to fully recover. A typical laser liposuction patient is often cleared to return to work and other normal activity after just a single day of rest. This is much more convenient and less intrusive to the normal life of the patient.
