You are too tired to cook after a long day at work, so you get a takeaway. You are craving for a certain Chinese dish that you do not know how to cook, so you get a Chinese takeaway. Your kids are begging for burger and fries, so you bring them a McDonald’s takeaway. Are these incidences familiar? I’m sure they are, because even though we are aware that takeaways contain a lot of calories, we can’t take the fact that they are part of our lives. If you want to lose weight and still eat takeaway, this article is for you.

Make Healthy Choices

I understand that McDonald’s Angus Bacon and Cheese is really delicious. However this sandwich also contains very high amount of calories. When you order a takeaway, you might want to get a lower calorie meal such as a regular hamburger or a salad perhaps.

Instead of ordering this:

Food choice calories total fat
Angus Bacon and Cheese 790 39
Large Fries 500 25
Coca Cola 310 0
Total: 1350 54

Order this instead:

Food choice calories total fat
Hamburger 250 9
Small Fries 230 11
Bottled water 0 0
Total: 384 20

Or this:

Food choice calories total fat
Premium Caesar Salad without chicken 90 4
4 pcs.Chicken McNuggets 190 12
Bottled Water 0 0
Total: 280 16

Not all Salads are healthy

A lot of people think that all salads are healthy. Let me tell you that they are not. Most restaurants have salads on their menu to attract health-conscious customers. But not all people know that the said salad contains more calories than a regular burger. For example, a cheeseburger which contains 300 calories and 12 total fat is a healthier choice than a Premium Southwest salad with crispy chicken which contains 430 calories and 20 total fat.

Do your research

You know that you can’t avoid eating a takeaway. So, the best thing for you to is to do your research on which are the healthiest choices you can find in a certain fast food restaurant. You can do manual calorie calculation or check their websites for the actual calorie count. You may check their sites for a start:

Order Spicy Foods

Adding a little kick on your takeaway could help you lose weight quickly. This is based on the fact that spicy foods increase blood circulation, heart rate, and perspiration, thus boosting up the metabolism. You may get spicy foods from Thai, Indian, and any other Asian takeaways.
